How clear is your Diamond?

Designs and patterns of artwork done on diamonds compared to now and back then, have drastically changed, due to technological improvements, people’s improved lifestyle, newer perspectives, advanced choices, and an effort to get something new onboard frequently. But one aspect that remains constant today also is the clarity of a diamond. And people are bound to make conscious choices when it comes to the Clarity of a diamond.


Clarity refers to the quantity and visibility of any flaws in the diamond. Clarity is measured in conjunction with how unclear the diamond is, which means that experts try to assess the impurities of diamonds to determine how pure it really is. These impurities are known as inclusions.


Clarity is one of the four C’s that gives a complete check-check before one goes to purchase a diamond. We often get conscious or rather confused, to be frank when it comes to the quality of any diamond.


So here we are, giving you a broader view of various clarity aspects that one should consider before making a purchase:


Presenting Diamonds by Clarity

  • FL - Completely Flawless

No inclusions or blemishes are visible to a skilled grader using 10× magnification.

  • IF - Internally Flawless

No inclusions and only blemishes are visible. The external flaws can be removed by further polishing.


  • VVS1 & VVS2 - Very Very Slightly Included

These flawless diamonds (otherwise known as FL diamonds) do not show any inclusions or impurities under a magnifying lens. Even with the use of ten times magnifying power, one will not find any impurities on these stones.


  • VS1, VS2 - Very Slightly included

Flaws are visible with a 10X microscope too.


  • SI1 SI2, SI3 - Slightly Included

Flaws are readily visible with a 10X microscope to a skilled grader.


  • I1, I2, I3 - Included

Flaws are clearly visible with a naked eye.
